For Immediate Release:
A local Scottish organization has begun planning a unique cultural experience for the public.
St. Paul & Eagan, Minnesota | This year promises to be our best year yet! We are pleased to announce that planning has begun for this year’s Minnesota Scottish Harp Weekend (July 14-16, 2017). We are currently accepting donations and pre-selling tickets & t-shirts for a weekend-long celebration of Scottish culture including music, food, competition, and friendship.
Donate and receive a gift in return? We’ve got that! Own a piece of wearable Scottish history by pre-purchasing a T-shirt to support our great event. This year’s intricate, limited-edition design is in the likeness of the Queen Mary harp. We are able to ship anywhere in the US or Canada. Like it? Don’t miss out! Get yours today.
This year we welcome our guest, Seumas Gagne, who will be featured in events all weekend long: two workshops (one for general public, and one for harpers), an evening concert, and of course judging for the SHSA sanctioned Scottish Harp Competition at the Minnesota Scottish Fair. We are looking forward to hearing his unique insight into Scottish Gaelic song literature.
The organizer Emily Taege says that “despite the state of Minnesota having a wealth of harp makers and harp players, we don’t have many low-pressure conferences to nurture friendships with other harpers of all ages and skill-levels. In addition to providing a special cultural experience for the general public, we also want to preserve the Scottish harping tradition; and that’s what this event is all about.”
Plans are still in development, but we hope to cap the weekend with a light brunch and free session (music jam) for any musician that would like to try their hand at playing with new people.
