2015 Minnesota Scottish Harp Competition Results
On July 17th, 2015, harpists from around the state gathered at the Celtic Junction to compete in the 2015 MN Scottish Harp Competition. Fourteen participants competed in seven different categories, including graded categories, Early Scottish Harp, Harp in Ensemble and Harp and Voice. 2009 National Scottish Harp Champion Chad McAnally gave a wonderful demo on his newest wire-strung harp and our judge from Boston, Haley Hewitt, played a tune to close out the awards ceremony. A harp workshop on Sunday and performances by competitors and Haley Hewitt at the MN Scottish Fair rounded out the weekend.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the competition! It was a great pleasure to listen to your performances. Thank you also to the teachers who encouraged and prepared their students to compete. We had several donors and collaborators who made our event possible, including the American Harp Society, Musicmakers in Stillwater, Stoney End Harps in Redwing, and Ross Sutter with the MN Scottish Fair. Thank you very much.
